SJB Institute of Technology was established in the year 2001 with the blessings of his divine soul , Jagadguru Padmabhushana Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Maha Swamiji and Reverend Sri Sri Sri Prakashanatha Swamiji. The Institution is headed by dynamic  and energetic leader, Dr. Puttaraju. SJBIT has been honoured as “Excellent Training And Placement Institute in Karnataka” by VTU, AICTE, CMAI, AIU, GOVT OF INDIA MNRE/MSME, NELIT, DEITY, NIXI,AIMS EI AT VTU Auditorium, VTU regional office, Bengaluru on 8^th August 2014.  SJBIT is Ranked No. 1 in Karnataka,(Amongst VTU Affiliated Private Engg colleges) Ranked No. 5 in South India(Among the Private Engg. It is a pride for SJBIT to add another feather in its cap by including Civil engineering program for the academic year 2009-10 with an intake of 60 students. The Department is fully established by meeting all the requirements of AICTE & VTU. The Department is well equipped with full fledged laboratories & state of art infrastructure facilities supported by the team of full fledged dedicated, well qualified and experienced faculty members.

Owing to the demand of Civil Engineers to build good infrastructure facilities at State and National Level, the intake of undergraduate program is increased to a strength of 120 during the academic year 2012-2013. To meet the need for specialization in Structural Engineering and CAD Structures, a post graduation programmes were introduced in the Department during the year 2014-2015. The Department of Civil Engineering is recognized as VTU Research Centre. The Aim is to impart quality education above the standards & to move towards excellence in this field. Department motivates students to take part in various activities such as sports, cultural, technical events at inter college and university level and have won prizes.

About Student Chapter

Student Chapter at SJBIT has been inaugurated on 8^th of May 2014,  Followed by series of Guest Lectures from Industry Experts as the part of one day workshop.  The SJBIT ICI Student chapter continuously organizing the Site visits and Guest lectures for students of in Association with ICI- Bangalore Centre.  SJBIT ICI Student Chapter has organized one day workshop on Design Aspects and Quality Control of Concrete Mix in RMC Plants.  There were 64 , 71 and 127 students registered for ICI student membership during the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively and getting the benefit of discount in registration fee for various Conferences and Deminars organized by ICI-Bangalore center which helped them for updating their knowledge and technical skills.
