About GAT

GAT started functioning in 2001 with the monumental objective of promoting academic excellence and competence in students, especially in the fast-growing global domain of Engineering Technology and Management. This renowned college is managed under the National Education Foundation, a trust dedicated to the cause of imparting quality education. GAT has been a forerunner and prime mover in imparting technical education in Bangalore, India. Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, the self financing Engineering College has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception in 2001.

About Civil Engineering Department

Department of Civil Engineering at Global Academy of Technology started in 2004 has grown continuously over the years and is now recognized as one of the research centers under Visveswaraya Technological University. The department has developed strong links with construction industry and professional bodies. Besides outcome based education instruction at both UG and PG levels, the department is actively involved in consultancy and research projects in thrust areas of civil engineering providing useful advice for the betterment of society. With diversely qualified and experienced faculty members it has become possible to engage students effectively to turn them into industry ready professionals with strong commitment towards environment and ethics.

Achievements:

Department is a recognized research centre of VTU and many students are pursuing research in the areas of flood mitigation, ground water pollution, canal performance and urban sprawl impact studies. Department has conducted many workshops, seminars in the areas of Geo technology, river rejuvenation, ground water & subsurface safety, and recent trends in civil engineering. Funded research projects on transportation,  coastal sedimentation dynamics, flood studies and consultancy projects for steel plants,  Government of Karnataka, non government organizations etc., in the areas of water resources have provided much needed live project exposure to faculty and students. Department has strong association with professional bodies, viz, Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), Indian Concrete Institute, Geological Society of India.

Nivedita M, student of Department of Civil Engineering  bagged 2nd highest seven gold medals during VTU convocation (2014-15). Nivedita has been secured first rank with highest marks in BE Civil Engineering.

About Student Chapter

ICI-Student Chapter at Global Academy of Technology was inaugurated on Thursday 28th April 2011 by Mr. Vijay Kulkarni, President ICI in the presence of Dr.C S Viswanath, Chairman, CTPL. & Chairman, Taskforce for Quality Control, Bangalore.

Dr. Narendra Viswanath, Principal, Global Academy of Technology welcomed the gathering.�Sri. Rajkumar Pillai, Chairman, ICI, Karnataka Bangalore Centre spoke on the importance of integrity and hands-on experience as mandatory ingredients for the success of any professiona, most importantly for construction project and long term sustenance in business.

Sri Venkatappa, Senior Trustee, National Education Foundation - NEF and Sri Lepaksha S, Trustee Secretary, NEF appreciated the efforts of ICI in providing learning opportunities facilitating Industry Institute Interaction to budding engineers and vowed to continue support for the cause of education in particular and country in general.
